Missouri Acupuncture Services, LLC was established in Kansas City, Missouri during the Spring of 1996. Greg Boyle teamed up with Christopher Powell in the formation of this new clinic in Kansas City. Greg, a licensed acupuncturist, was one of the pioneers in Chinese Medicine here in Kansas City. He established the treatment of drug addiction programs, based on the model from Dade County, in conjunction with the court systems here in Kansas City with the use of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Missouri Acupuncture Services, LLC was located in a small space above Wild Oats on the corner of 43rd and Main in midtown Kansas City. The clinic was establised to specialize in the treatment of chronic and serious illness with the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine and to work closely with Western medicine to design treatment protocols in the comprehensive complimentary treatment of those diseases.
Missouri Acupuncture Services, LLC has a unique setting within which to work here in Kansas City. Since our focus is on research and treatment of serious illnesses, we have the opportunity to be in the forefront of promoting the use of Chinese Medicine and acupuncture for diseases like Cancer, HIV, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and chronic pain. We have access to the Stower's Institute, St. Luke's Cancer Centers, and Kansas University's Complimentary Care Centers. These insititutions all have interest in how Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture can serve the patient. Christopher Powell, in particular, has been working with many of the oncologists throughout Kansas City in the treatment of patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. He has also established many working relationships with cancer hospitals in Maine, Texas, New York, and Ireland using Chinese Medicine and acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy for the cancer patient. Chris Powell has worked with many of the research physicians at Sloane-Kettering Hospital, MD Anderson, and the Dana Farber Institutel in supplying them with information and research in the treatment of cancer with Chinese Herbs.
Peggy Older has been with Missouri Acupuncture Services, LLC for the past 7 years and has been specializing in gynecological disorders and the treatment of chronic pain and migraines. She provides many years of study in these fields and has quite a success record.
Travis Spire-Sweet is our newest addition to our clinic. He began as a patient while he was only 13 years old. His experience with Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture was so powerful that he decided early on that he wanted to become a practitioner. He studied at the Denver School of Oriental Medicine and joined our clinic just a year ago. He specializes in Chronic Kidney Disease and has even established "Kidney Talk", a support group for patients with Kidney Disease here in Kansas City.
Our goal at Missouri Acupuncture Services, LLC is to provide the Kansas City area with the latest in research and technology combined with the ancient art of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in the treatment of serious illness.
